The climate is changing and we all have to do something about it. The children in our schools will be the children who steward the planet into the future. We need to equip them with the skills and knowledge to do just that. To do this at Chandos, we have adopted the TEFAT Green Curriculum which is a way of teaching and learning that puts environment and sustainability at the heart of the curriculum arranged around four interlinking sustainability themes.
Green Systems
Green Regeneration & Diversity
Green Communities
Green Citizens
Each Academy is committed to reflect one theme in their own setting, we have chosen Green Systems for 2026/27.
The aim of our pledge is below along with was=ts we aim to improve our environment.
use our outdoor classroom for the teaching of science topics eg plants, lifecycles, habitats
introduce bug hotels for minibeasts
plant and grow vegetables and herbs which are then used in cooking
reduce the amount of food waste we produce as a school
have a power down day
assign Eco-Ambassadors to help manage recycling and promoting of the green curriculum
